Following the killing of a colleague last weekend, prison officers are calling for legislation to help protect their lives.
This is according to Barataria MP Saddam Hosein who, via a media release, says he met with their representing union yesterday.
He notes that they are concerned following the murder of Officer Sherwin Francis at his home on September 19th 2020.
The association suggests that law is put in place to facilitate the arming of officers, secure housing and camera systems.
Mr Hosein claims they also want to see proactive measures to treat with an outbreak of COVID-19 in the prisons.
