The latest round of COVID-19 restrictions, which has seen the temporary ban on in-house dining at restaurants is scheduled to end this weekend.
And, Bar Owners are pleading with the Prime Minister to return their sector to some sense of normalcy from Monday.
The bar owners believes proper adherence and enforcement of the health protocols and guidelines is necessary, instead of further closure and restrictions to businesses.
The Barkeepers and Operators Association of T&T says whilst they were allowed to open with a grab and go system in the past 28 days, this system was not feasible to sustain their businesses.
It adds that more than 60% of the bars opted to remain closed during this period due to high overheads.
The Association says since the start of the pandemic and with the various phases of restrictions, many bars have faced foreclosure, unemployment, eviction and bankruptcy.
Numerous bars have also had to shut their doors.
