A section of the roadway along the Golden Grove Road between the prison and the highway collapsed last night, making it highly unlikely for traffic to pass smoothly.
It is due to a bridge partially collapsing, leaving a massive hole in one half of the passageway where vehicles traverse.
The Ministry of Works and Transport says it is aware of the problem and engineers conducted a site assessment overnight.
It says a bailey bridge will be temporarily erected, starting today.
For the time being, persons are advised to seek alternative routes where possible.
