Bail for 2 charged with sexual offences against girls

    Two men were granted bail when they appeared separately before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate for sexual charges against two girls.

    In the first incident, a 22-year-old man was charged with the sexual touching of a nine-year-old girl.

    Earlier this month, the victim told police that the man touched her private part while she was at her father’s house in Diego Martin.

    The suspect was granted $100,000 bail and ordered to report to his local police station twice a week.

    In the second incident, a 25-year-old Vincentian was granted $200,000 bail for the sexual penetration of a 14-year-old girl.

    A police investigation found that in April 2019, the girl met the accused at a fast food restaurant in St. James, while still dressed in her school uniform.

    He allegedly took her to a house in Diego Martin where she was sexually assaulted.

    He must also report to his local police station twice a week.

    Both men will reappear before the court on May 20th.
