Attack on elderly British couple: Ministers and Top Cop to meet to discuss tourist safety

In the wake of an attack on an elderly British couple, a meeting is being organized with Tourism Minister Randall Mitchell, National Security Minister Stuart Young, and Police Commissioner Gary Griffith.

According to the Tourism Ministry, the talks will focus on reviewing and improving security arrangements for visitors.

The meeting is expected to take place early in the New Year, though a date has not yet been announced.

On Boxing Day, 72 year old Sally Wilson was injured as a knife wielding bandit cut her handbag from her shoulder.

Mrs Wilson and her 74 year old husband Michael, were in Trinidad as part of a Caribbean cruise, which they had booked for their 50th wedding anniversary on December 28th.

According to the Tourism Ministry, the couple left T&T around 7:30pm yesterday on a British Airways flight to the UK, via St Lucia.
