The Barkeepers and Operators Association of T&T is calling for government assistance in light of the recent COVID-19 restrictions.
Following last week’s announcement of the closure of bars and restaurants until May 23rd, the association is “deeply troubled.”
In a media release, BOATT warns that the industry has been grappling with restrictions over the past 14 months and cannot withstand another closure without government intervention.
It says while it is engaged with the Finance Ministry regarding loan access and grants, it is still waiting on a positive response.
The association is urging business chambers and other associations to come forward with proactive recommendations to help government in its decisions on restricting normal business activity.
