Government may lend a helping hand to the Asa Wright Nature Centre, which this week announced the closure of its eco-lodge.

Yesterday, Board Chairperson Professor Judith Gobin said there had been financial challenges because of no visitors, no revenue, no endowment, and no direct governmental assistance.

The not-for-profit Trust will continue managing its protected areas, however it will have to rely on donations to do so.

Tourism Minister Randall Mitchell told the Senate today that he has been in touch with the Board, and should have their recommendations by next week.
