AG responds to Opposition concerns about procurement amendments

The Attorney General is dismissing claims made by an Opposition senator about the Public Procurement amendments as “ridiculous”.

Yesterday, Mr Wade Mark threatened to withhold Opposition support for any legislation, if the amendments were not withdrawn.

He claimed that government, through the proposed legal changes, were “legalising “thievery, banditry and naked and wholesale corruption.”

However, Mr Faris Al Rawi responded today, saying that a read of the bill shows the claims as “untrue.”

Meanwhile, Mr Al Rawi said he is not surprised about the threat of not supporting government legislation.
