AG: Polymer certificates only needed for immigrant visas

The Attorney General is reiterating that the US Embassy is asking for polymer certificates ONLY for immigrant visa applications.

Yesterday, the embassy announced that from February 1st 2019 it will only accept the new green polymer, computer-generated civil documents, inclusive of birth, marriage and death certificates.

Responding to a question in the Senate today, Mr Al Rawi clears up any misunderstanding of the embassy’s notice.

Mr Al Rawi says the Registrar General has been issuing these polymer certificates since February 2016 and is “well ahead of that curve.”
