AG: No injunction granted to block deportations of recently detained Venezuelans

The Attorney General insists that no injunction was granted “blocking” the state from deporting 26 migrants as reported in a newspaper article today.

The statement from Mr Faris Al Rawi comes after the article claimed the determination was made by a High Court Judge.

He claims otherwise – the AG says the state was prepared to voluntarily stay to the deportation order, pending the hearing and determination of the motion.

As such, he says there was no argument before the Judge on the question of deportation and no injunction was granted “blocking” State authorities or otherwise.

According to the AG, the only issue argued before the Judge was the question of quarantine for one of the migrant children.

The judge reportedly accepted the argument that he be placed in State quarantine in the care of his mother.
