After homeless attacks, San Fernando to get 25 more Municipal Police officers

Following recent attacks on a nurse and a student at Harris Promenade in San Fernando, security is being ramped up.

This was reportedly revealed by Mayor Junia Regrello, during a statutory meeting at the City Corporation earlier this week.

He says the attacks were carried out by street dwellers and as such, 25 additional officers will be added to the area’s Municipal Police Force, later this month.

There are currently 49 officers and Mayor Regrello says the additional ones will help secure the main shopping areas in San Fernando.

He adds that they will deal with issues of illegal vending and help monitor the homeless, who are uncontrollable and often intoxicated.
