An American Airlines flight to Miami that was about to take off from the Piarco International Airport early this morning had to return to the gate.
According to a Trinidad Express report, at 5:45am while taxiing on the runway, an Airport Authority’s employee noticed an issue with the aircraft and notified air traffic control.
The Airports Authority says its usual emergency protocols were immediately activated and the Fire Service responded, while the aircraft safely returned to the gate at Piarco.
There were no reports of injuries.
Flight operations at the airport continued as normal, while the AA flight eventually left a few hours later.
