70 persons have been ticketed for traffic offences ranging from speeding to parking on a footpath
The tickets were issued during a roving exercise yesterday along the Lady Young Road in Morvant, St. Joseph Old Road in Laventille, the Priority Bus Route and other areas.
Of the tickets issued, 28 were for failing to wear a seatbelt, 23 for parking on a footpath and eight for speeding.
Officers also targeted errant road users who were caught using handheld devices while driving, breaching traffic signs, improper overtaking, and causing unnecessary obstruction.
Following a meeting with the Barataria/San Juan Business Association in September, the North Eastern Division has revamped its Traffic and Patrol Unit, focusing primarily on decongesting traffic and policing errant road users.
