7 hives identified at Palmiste Park, action to be taken

Persons are also being urged to avoid Palmiste Park, with efforts to begin tomorrow to deal with seven bee hives on the premises.

Several persons were injured after a swarm attacked park goers on Easter Monday.

The Agriculture Ministry says following the incident, it mobilized a team from its Regional South Administration Office, while the Bee Abatement Unit of County Victoria conducted a surveillance exercise.

It says the seven hives identified are located in trees at heights of 30 feet or more and have the potential to pose further harm to persons if disturbed.

Technical teams from the Ministry and San Fernando City Corporation will return to the Park tomorrow.

The Ministry says accessible hives will be removed, while abatement activities will be conducted on the hives that are difficult to access but pose a high risk to park users.
