7 arrested for breach of COVID Regulations at DSS registration in Tobago

Seven persons, including a Trinidadian, were arrested this morning at Store Bay Local Road, Crown Point, Tobago, for allegedly breaching the Public Health Ordinance Regulations.

They were Shepherd’s Inn to register for the DSS – an operation that the TTPS has called a scheme, and which was recently the target of a raid in La Horquetta.

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith, who is in the United Kingdom, received images and videos showing long lines for the registration this morning.

He gave instructions to arrest anyone who was in breach of the COVID-19 Regulations and to shut down the DSS operation.

Around 9am, a team of officers went to the location, and informed the crowd that they were in breach of the Public Health Ordinance Regulations.

Most quickly dispersed, however several allegedly refused to abide by the instructions and were arrested.

Those arrested will appear virtually before a Scarborough Magistrate on Monday, 19th October, 2020.
