Six new cases of the COVID-19 Delta Variant have been confirmed in T&T.
According to the Health Ministry, one case is an unvaccinated national, a minor, who recently travelled to Trinidad from New York.
The other five cases have no recent history of travel, and includes another unvaccinated minor.
The Ministry says all the patients have been placed in isolation until the enhanced discharge criteria for persons with COVID-19 Variants of Concern is achieved.
Contact tracing, testing and quarantining of contacts have also been initiated.
T&T has now confirmed 17 cases of the Delta Variant, which research suggests is more easily spread from person to person as compared to previous variants.
