542 reports of ABM Fraud from Jan to June 2019

ASP Curtis Julien of the TTPS Fraud Squad says the ABM Task Force have been assisting in reducing the amount of card skimming fraud at ATM machines.

He says persons, mostly non-nationals, rig machines throughout T&T, generally in remote areas and at late hours.

In the first half of 2019 there were 542 reports of ABM Fraud involving four banks: Scotiabank, First Citizens, RBC and Republic Bank.

Since July, ASP Julien says several arrests have been made including a Canadian citizen who they believe was a major player in this matter.

And, the officer is urging persons to still be very vigilant when using ATM machines, especially at night.
