A five-year-old boy is said to be in a critical but stable condition after an incident at Matura River.
According to Newsday, the boy was bathing with relatives when he went under the water for a short period of time.
Attempts to revive him on the spot were unsuccessful, and he was rushed to the Matura Health Centre where the staff was able to resuscitate him.
He is expected to be transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.
Police have reportedly opened an investigation into the incident.
