Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has directed that four officers be suspended and another 11 be transferred, as investigations continue into the return of $22 million from a recent raid in La Horquetta.
The cash was taken to the La Horquetta Police Station to be counted, however several hours later it was handed back to the founder of DSS – commonly referred to as “Drugs Sou Sou”.
The CoP said based on preliminary investigations, it had become necessary to suspend the four policemen, two of whom are senior officers.
Regarding the transfers, he says four will be transferred out of the Northern Division, while the other seven, all Special Reserve Police Officers, be transferred to Northern Division Area West.
Also, on the advice of investigators from the Professional Standards Bureau, certain persons will be removed from the investigation, to allow for greater transparency.
The investigation is being spearheaded by a team under the supervision of Acting Deputy Police Commissioner (Intelligence and Investigations), Mc Donald Jacob.
