4 killed by police in Mayaro


    Four men have been shot and killed by police following a home invasion in Mayaro.

    Between 9:30 and 10am today, police responded to a report of a robbery in progress at #12 Krista Park, Beaumont Road, Mayaro.

    According to the TTPS, a couple had entered their home when they were accosted by seven gun who bound their hands and feet with duct tape.

    The couple’s teenaged son who was in the house had been bound with duct tape prior to the couple’s arrival.

    As the responding officers approached the house belonging to a businessman, they were allegedly greeted with gunfire.

    Shots were returned, with four suspects fatally injured, while three escaped.

    According to the TTPS, one 12-gauge shotgun, three pistols and an air rifle were recovered from the scene, along with a quantity of cash.

    It adds that the victim and other family members were rescued, with counseling initiated through the TTPS Victim and Witness Support Unit.
