3 Tobago students miss SEA Exam due to COVID-19

The Tobago House of Assembly’s Division of Education says the 2020 SEA Exam was administered smoothly and without incident.

992 students wrote the Exam at 39 centres on the island – 507 boys and four hundred and eighty five 485 girls.

Division Secretary Kelvin Charles revealed however that three students were unable to sit the exam due to COVID-19.

He says one had previously tested positive for the virus, while the other two were identified as secondary contacts of COVID-positive patients.

Additionally, two students in eastern Tobago did not turn up for the Exam.

Mr Charles says all five will be accommodated in a make-up test that will be scheduled for a later date.

As for protocols put in place, Mr Charles says there were sinks at each entrance, sanitization of the buildings and furniture was done beforehand and temperature scanning carried out by security guards for all those entering the compound.

He adds that the social and emotional needs of students were also addressed through videos, infomercials, and carefully designed soundbites, designed to comfort the fears and anxieties of students and their parents.
