3 COVID-19 cases in T&T Olympic contingent


    Three members of T&T’s Olympic Squad have been isolated after receiving positive COVID-19 test results at the Games Village in Tokyo, Japan.

    According to the T&T Olympic Committee, they are

    The three are athletes Andwuelle Wright and Sparkle Ann McKnight and coach Wendell Williams, all of whom agreed to share their COVID-19 status.

    They have since been transferred to the approved isolation hotel facility for foreign athletes and officials.

    Wright will not be able to participate in the Long Jump, while McKnight will have to miss the 400m hurdles, both carded for tomorrow.

    Members of T&T’s 50 strong contingent in Tokyo are tested daily and are required to comply with the stringent TOKYO2020 Playbook countermeasures.

    These include daily routine saliva antigen tests at the Olympic Village as well as PCR verification tests.
