3 children warded at Couva Hospital with MIS-C

Three children are currently warded at the Couva Hospital, after developing a condition called MIS-C, brought on by the COVID-19 virus.

According to the US Centre for Disease Control, MIS-C (Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children) is a condition where different body parts or organs can become inflamed.

During a media briefing hosted by the Prime Minister today, Dr Michelle Trotman said tests have unfortunately shown “involvement of the heart”.

Dr Trotman re-emphasized the need to adhere to “the new normal”.

Given this, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is again urging persons not to breach the COVID-19 regulations, especially during the upcoming Christmas Season.

He lamented a recent incident, in which a number of persons participated in a “team building exercise” in Tobago.

Dr Rowley also assured that once a vaccine is certified, it will be acquired and used in T&T.

He expressed hope as well that T&T will not be overcome or influenced by those those who do not believe in vaccination.
