A TTPS statement today stated that a 28 year old laborer from Siparia was denied bail, after appearing in court to answer the charges of rape and kidnapping of a 74 year old woman.
It follows an incident on July 24th, where the elderly woman is alleged to have been bundled into a car by a man at La Brea Trace Junction in Siparia.
The victim told police she was taken to a back road behind the Siparia West Secondary school where she was pulled out of the car, dragged down a hill into a bushy area, and raped.
She was allegedly dealt several blows by the attacker as she began fighting him off and screaming. He then ran off.
The TTPS stated that Alvin Sookram was arrested on September 4th 2020 and will return to court on October 26th.
