22 new COVID-19 infections have been reported on Saturday and 71 patients have recovered, taking the number of Active Positive Patients to 1,726.
One more death was recorded, taking total fatalities as a result of COVID-19 to 90 in T&T.
The Ministry of Health says since the start of the pandemic, there have been 5,043 positive cases, with 3,221 of those recovered.
Currently there are 118 COVID patients in hospital, 38 in step-down facilities, 100 in state-quarantine facilities and 1,570 in home quarantine.
At a media conference hosted by the Prime Minister on Saturday, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh says they are hoping to get daily infections down from an average of 50 per day.
He says if cases remain at that level, T&T can expect one death from COVID-19 per day.
Epidemiologist Dr. Avery Hinds reported that the initial downward trend of COVID-19 cases continues, but the decreases are slowing down from 35% in the first week, to 22% in the second week, to 12% this week.
