$200 million is being spent to upgrade Skinner Park in San Fernando.

San Fernando West MP Faris Al Rawi said at the sod turning ceremony that the City will now see its first major development in 53 years.

The project is being managed by UDECOTT on behalf of the Ministry of Sport.

Phase 1 will include the demolition and refurbishment of the track and field infrastructure and construction of a multi-tier stand.

Phase 2 meanwhile will involve the secondary ground being upgraded to include parking facilities and vending spots.

AG Al Rawi said that several projects could not have been done sooner since the finances and approvals took a few years to be completed.
