Two women and two Venezuelans are among eight persons arrested in connection with a robbery attempt that ended in the death of a Chinese national.
Around 4am yesterday, the group, armed with knives and cutlasses, entered Happiness Supermarket in Barataria.
They proceeded to the upper floor of the building where the owner and eight employees, all Chinese nationals, were asleep.
The suspects attempted to rob the occupants but a struggle ensued.
During this time, several persons were stabbed and chopped.
A report was made to the police who responded within minutes and were able to apprehend all eight suspects.
The wounded were rushed to hospital, however one man later died due to his injuries.
