Two men have been arrested after several incidents involving the theft of cash from vehicles in South Trinidad.
39-year-old Sherwin Alexander of Sea Lots and 35-year-old Christopher Hoyte of Fyzabad were initially held on July 20th and charged for a quantity of ammunition found in their vehicle.
Further investigations however linked them to a string of thefts in San Fernando, in which the windows of parked vehicles were smashed and cash taken, usually after the victim had visited a bank.
The men were subsequently charged with larceny as well.
When they appeared virtually at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court on Monday, they were each granted $180,000 bail for the ammunition charge and $180,000 for the larceny charge.
The TTPS is asking citizens to be vigilant, especially when conducting bank transactions and to refrain from leaving valuables, including sums of cash, in parked vehicles.
