A teenager has been arrested after police found 5.5 kilograms of marijuana in his knapsack.
During an anti-crime exercise in the Eastern Division yesterday, police saw a 16-year-old boy behaving suspiciously.
They searched his bag and found seven packets of marijuana, before arresting him having the substance for the purpose of trafficking.
According to the Dangerous Drugs amendment, persons are allowed to be in possession of no more than 30 grams of marijuana.
Separately, officers went to Rampersad Trace, Vega de Oropouche and executed a search warrant for firearms and ammunition.
During the search, they found and seized $28,700 pending enquiries related to the Proceeds of Crime Act.
