15-year-old charged after allegedly robbing policeman

A 15-year-old boy is expected before a Juvenile Magistrate facing charges stemming out of an alleged robbery of a police officer.

The suspect is charged with two counts of robbery with aggravation.

On January 19th 2021, the officer reported that his Chevy Cruze was stolen in Penal by two men, one with a firearm, who forced his wife and mother out of the parked vehicle.

Responding police spotted and chased the vehicle along Station 10 Road where the assailants eventually crashed.

One suspect fled the scene while the other was caught trying to escape with a black tactical bag with the officer’s belongings.

Police say items stolen from the car include the officer’s operational jacket, his TTPS ID card and badge, a baton, handcuffs, holster, wallet and his wife’s cell phone.

Officers are following leads that they believe will lead to the capture of the other suspect.
