108 additional prisoners tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, following a swabbing exercise done on inmates at the Golden Grove Prison on Friday.
The prison service says assessment is ongoing on these Covid-positive patients following which they would be relocated to an in-house Covid-19 treatment centre and relatives will be contacted.
To date, a total of 255 positive cases have been detected in the nation’s prison.
With approximately 3800 persons in the prison system, over 600 persons have already been tested.
The Prison Service says to determine status to aid in decision-making, all prisoners continue to be observed, monitored and charted under the guidance of the experts of at the Ministry of Health.
