The Telecommunication Authority of T&T has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education to provide 10,000 tablet devices with three month internet packages to students in public schools.
Digicel and TSTT are to procure and provide these ICT-enabled devices, along with sim cards for each device and the data packages.
The Ministry will then distribute these devices to students in need.
The move comes, as students this term are attending classes online from their homes, due to the precautions taken during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the start of the term, the Education Minister estimated that as many as 65,000 students did not have access to laptops and other devices.
Since then, there has been a call for corporate entities to assist in helping these youngsters to access devices and connectivity, and so far many businesses have made donations.
