100 troops leave to assist in Bahamas hurricane relief


    100 Defence Force soldiers from Trinidad and Tobago left this morning for the Bahamas to lend support during the hurricane relief efforts.

    They will be station on the destroyed Grand Bahama and Abaco Islands for the next 30 days.

    National Security Minister Stuart Young departed with the troops aboard Caribbean Airlines flight BW 8410 to Nassau.

    The airline also carried supplies for the troops, which were donated by the private sector, including the Bermudez Group.
