Concerned about what is happening in T&T

0

Can someone tell me what is happening in my sweet T&T? I have been living in England for the past 32 years but I visit Trinidad twice every year to visit family and friends. I could not make it this year, at least so far, because of COVID-19. But I keep abreast of the news through your online editions.

The news have been scary! I see where the Chief Justice and the DPP are engaged in a public spat.

Just recently the Prime Minister and the Commissioner of Police were engaged in a war-of-words.

But I saw where the Commissioner was man enough to publicly apologise.

But I think that something is brewing with the Commissioner of Police. From the outside and reading between the lines, somebody wants to get rid of him.

Why? He is outspoken and will call a spade a spade. It cannot be on his performance. Look at his assessment from the Police Service Commission. Flawless! He brought new life to the TTPS and he has gotten dead beat units up and running again.

Is the media against the Commissioner and the TTPS? The last articles on the Gun issue, was that really a news story? Reading all the articles, I understand the explanation from the Commissioner.

No licence was granted at the end of the day. Why the fuss! I also noticed that the Commissioner mentioned that media people got their approvals as well. Well, I so wish the Commissioner could buss the mark and name these media people. But he won’t do that because it would be irresponsible of him.

Media people, you are not sacred cows. You are human just like the Commissioner and I. For those who are fighting down this Commissioner, be careful what you ask for. I know what we have now. I know what we had in the past. But I don’t know what we will get in the future. Be warned!
