A new experimental Traffic Scheme will be in place in Port of Spain, Diego Martin and St James, from Monday 3rd September to Sunday 2nd December, 2018.
According to the Works Ministry, two streets will now feature one-way traffic: motorists must drive south along George Street, between Independence Square North and Independence Square South; and west along Panka Street between the intersections of Vidale Street and Ethel Street in St James.
Several streets will also be made “no entry” namely George Street extension from Independence Square South in Port of Spain; Panka Street from Ethel Street in St James; and Aquamarine Drive from Onyx Drive in Diego Martin.
Aquamarine Drive will also be one way in a southerly direction between the intersection of Sardonyx Drive and Onyx Drive, but only from Monday to Friday, between 7am and 9am, and then from 2pm to 4pm.
Those failing to adhere to the new traffic scheme will face a first offence fine of 750 dollars and 1000 dollars for subsequent convictions.
