Yasir Shah becomes fastest to 200 Test wickets

Abu Dhabi – Pakistan legspinner Yasir Shah has broken an 82-year old record, becoming the fastest to 200 wickets.

He trapped New Zealand’s William Sommerville leg-before on the 4th morning of their 3rd Test in Abu Dhabi to get to the milestone in his 33rd Test.

The previous record was held by another, New Zealand-born Australian cricketer Clarrie Grimmett, who reached the mark in his 36th Test.

After Shah’s milestone, New Zealand took control of the game.

Even though they lost Ross Taylor 3 overs later, the Kiwis found stability with Kane Williamson (139 not out) and Henry Nicholls (90 not out), ending the day on 272/4, a lead of 198 runs. (Photo by AFP)

Scorecard:
NZ: 274 & 272/4
PAK: 348
