Windies vs NZ: Windies lose opening ODI, Gayle falls ill

Evin Lewis’ 76 was not enough for the Windies to get past New Zealand in the 1st ODI between the two.

Outside of Lewis and Rovman Powell’s 59, most other batsmen failed leaving the Windies with just 248/9 after 50 overs – Chris Gayle made just 22.

On the flipside, the Kiwis had decent knocks from most of their batting order, getting home in 46 overs.

Gayle meanwhile, did not field because, according to Coach Stuart Law, he was ill.

He says the opener will seek further medical advice in Christchurch.
