Unions upset with Guardian Media and Stechers

BIGWU is urging Guardian Media Limited to work with a revised collective bargaining agreement for its employees.

A silent protest was held today and the union’s Labour Relations/Health and Safety Officer, Wesley Francis called for cooperation instead of retrenchment and restructuring.

Meanwhile, another union protested today, against the alleged late and non payment of salaries and retrenchment of workers of Stechers Limited.

The All Trinidad General Workers Union claims salaries for March are outstanding, workers are being retrenched without severance benefits and the company is failing to meet with the union.

It is promising further protests “until workers are paid their just due.
