T&T fall 2-0 to US; remain last in WCQ “Hex”

T&T’s World Cup chances have begun to slip away following a 2-0 defeat to the USA last night in Colorado.

A brace from 18 year old Christian Pulisic took the game away from T&T after a competitive first half.

The local team could have come away with a point though.

Kenwyne Jones hit the crossbar off a header from point blank range and the ball did end up in the back of the net seconds after the first US goal but it was judged offside.

The result means that T&T still sit last in the 6-team final round while Mexico, Costa Rica and the US are in top three after 5 of the 10 games to be played.

T&T next take on the Costa Ricans next Tuesday, June 13th, at 10pm in Costa Rica.

The top three teams in this round go directly to the World Cup, with the 4th placed team going to a playoff against a team from the Asian Football Confederation.
