Pakistan looks set to confirm Shadab Khan in its World Cup squad, after the PCB cleared him to join up with the squad after the ODI series with England.
ESPNCricinfo says Shadab was struck down with a bout of hepatitis ahead of the England tour and has been recuperating back home since the start of the ODI series.
But speaking at the toss in Bristol, captain Sarfaraz Ahmed revealed that the all-rounder will be fit for the World Cup.
Shadab is set to leave Pakistan for England on Thursday, where he will see a London-based specialist, before joining up with the rest of the World Cup party on Monday.
He was quoted in a PCB release as saying:
“I am delighted to know that the blood tests are negative and I can now return to competitive cricket. I was always very confident that I would fully recover from the viral infection and will be available for the World Cup.”
