Afghanistan have completed their first Test win with a composed chase of 147 against Ireland.

Right handed batsman Rahmat Shah was the star as he made his 2nd half-century of the match with 76 in the 2nd innings in addition to his 1st innings 98.

Ihsanullah Janat contributed an unbeaten 65.

Captain Asghar Afghan says it is “a historic day for Afghanistan, for Afghanistan people, for our team, for our cricket board.”

Acknowledging that the wicket was good for batting, he commended his bowlers especially, Rashid Khan (7/102), Waqar Salamkheil (4/101) and Yamin Ahmadzai (6/93).

Afghanistan are now joint second-fastest to a maiden Test-match win, alongside Pakistan and England with two matches.
