Simmo stars as Red Force close in on Guyana with win over Windward Islands

The T&T Red Force pulled off a dominant win in their Regional Super 50 match against the Windward Islands Volcanoes last night to close the gap on table toppers Guyana Jaguars to just 2 points.

Rain delayed the start of play at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy and reduced the overs to 38 overs per side.

Leg-spinner Imran Khan took 3-13 while left-arm spinner Khary Pierre and all-rounder Rayad Emrit took two wickets apiece as the Volcanoes were dismissed for 78 in 22.1 overs.

In reply, the Red Force were in some trouble at 23 for three in the 6th over, but Lendl Simmons with 52 not out from 30 balls and Nicholas Pooran with 25 not out from 11 balls got T&T over the line in the 10th over.

Elsewhere the match between the Windies B and Canada was abandoned without a ball bowled, thanks once again to the rain.
