Ravi B not defending CSM title; prizes unveiled for competition

Ravi B will not be defending his joint Chutney Soca Monarch title this year.

This announcement from the Karma front man came this afternoon through a release from CSM organizers SouthEx, leaving 11 to compete for the crown.

According to Ravi, he is taking some time to focus on self-analysis, the rebranding of Karma and working with younger artistes.

His acknowledged that the news may be disappointing to his supporters and well wishers, but vowed to return in the near future.

Ravi and Karma will perform at the opening of the CSM final though, being joined by Nailah Blackman and the Khalnayak Dance Academy on the night of the 27th of January.

Last year’s joint champ, Omardath Maraj, will be defending his crown.

Meanwhile, the prize structure for the event has been unveiled with the winner taking home $300,000.

Second and third will receive $100,000 and $70,000 while all other performers will get $35,000.
