Poor Ash Wednesday student turnout at schools again

Less than 20 percent of secondary school students showed up for classes today.

The Ministry of Education is happy though, since 0.9%more students attended school today, than last year’s Ash Wednesday.

In primary schools, 28% of students were present today, which is 2.4% more than what occurred last year.

The Ministry says 71% of Secondary School teachers attended school today, while 78% of Primary School educators went to work.

The data counted all schools except for SDMS and SWAHA schools, which were granted a religious holiday in observance of Shiv Raatri.
