Pollard, Narine, Bravo not in Windies World Cup Qualifying squad

The West Indies team to play in the qualifying matches for the ICC World Cup was announced today by Cricket West Indies.

Jason Holder will captain the Windies squad in the qualifiers for the ICC World Cup.

The vice captain in T&T’s Jason Mohammed and the squad features veterans such as Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels and Kemar Roach.

Carlos Brathwaite also makes it into the squad, along with Devendra Bishoo, Sheldon Cottrell, Shimron Hetmeyer, Shai Hope, Evin Lewis, Nikita Miller, Ashley Nurse, Rovman Powell, and Kesrick Williams.

The selectors say Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Darren Bravo and Andre Russell indicated they were unavailable, as their priority was playing in the Pakistan Super League.

They say Dwayne Bravo was not contacted as he had indicated previously that he is no longer available to play cricket for the West Indies.

The qualifiers in Zimbabwe begin with the first match on March 6th.

The Windies will come up against teams such as Papua New Guinea, Ireland and the Netherlands.
