Police Commissioner candidate shortlist by December

By the December, a shortlist of candidates for Police Commissioner will be ready.

The Police Service Commission has contracted KPMG Trinidad and Tobago to conduct the recruitment and selection process.

The firm will advertise the vacancy, sort through applications as well as assess potential Top Cops and Deputy Commissioners of Police.

This is expected to take four months to complete, and the nominees will then have to be approved by the Parliament.

Stephen Williams has been acting Police Commissioner since Canadian Dwayne Gibbs resigned as Top Cop in 2012.

The new criterion for Police Commissioner says nominees must be T&T nationals with a relevant degree, and must have at least 15 years service in law enforcement.
