Opposition wants police probe into acquisition process for vessels to service sea-bridge

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is calling for a criminal investigation into deals for vessels to service the sea-bridge.

During a public meeting in St Joseph last evening, Mrs Persad-Bissessar reminded of the Prime Minister’s own admission last year of corrupt activity in the acquisition process.

Specifically, the PM admitted that the deals for the Ocean Flower II and the Cabo Star may have included some sort of corrupt activity.

And after several failed attempts by the Port Authority to lease a ferry, a special cabinet sub-committee was appointed to the task.

Mrs Persad-Bissessar believes the confusion warrants a police investigation.
