Opposition Leader ‘disappointed’ over PM silence on crime

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is criticizing the Prime Minister’s silence over the levels of crime and violence witnessed over the two day Carnival celebrations.

She says it is disappointing that Dr Keith Rowley continues to demonstrate a lack of care for the people, as he remains silent on the reported threats to disrupt Carnival, and the crime witnessed on both days.

Mrs Persad-Bissessar believes as Head of the National Security Council, the PM should have provided some assurance that the Government had a plan to deal with any eventuality.

The former Prime Minister adds that Dr Rowley continues to show that he is incapable of dealing with the crime problem which is ‘out of control’.

She believes T&T’s international image has been tarnished by the violent incidents over the two day period, as well as the report of the threat.

The Opposition Leader is demanding that the PM address the nation, and provide a clear cut plan to tackle the escalating crime rate.
