OnePlus 5T revealed at US$499; boasts dual cameras and face unlock

Smartphone maker OnePlus has unveiled its latest marquee device – the OnePlus 5T.

It comes with a 6-inch display, dual 16MP and 20MP cameras with focus on low light and portrait photography, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, a fingerprint scanner, a headphone and ships with Android Nougat 7.1.1.

The device also takes on Apple’s face unlock with a feature of their own.

The company says its version will work with 99 percent accuracy as long as it can see your eyes and nose.

On the flipside, it’s not secure meaning it won’t work for mobile payments, for which you’ll need to you to use your fingerprint.

It will take US$499 to get your hands on this device.

When compared to the $950 or $1,000 Galaxy Note 8 or iPhone X, a $500 handset is reasonable, especially when it’s packed with decent specs.

The device will be available from November 21st.
