Pigeon infestation force teachers’ walkout at Belmont Govt Primary School

Five teachers walked out of classes at the Belmont Government Primary School over concerns of a possible health hazard from a pigeon infestation.

According to a Guardian report, that was the situation on the reopening of the new school term yesterday.

It stated that TTUTA President Lynsley Doodhai said while all schools opened, the union had received reports of the walkout due to a pigeon infestation – a problem that also existed last term.

The article further stated that he said operations at the facility continued but he promised to raise the issue with the Ministry.

On the matter of school repairs, Mr Doodhai reported that work was not done on more than 100 schools, including Cipero RC, Point Cumana Government and Bamboo Government Primary Schools.
